Little Escape
by peanutsandfriends
Had a small excursion out yesterday with fong yee around Tiong Bahru and Commonwealth. Needless to say, it was a ball of fun because I planned our route and we took long walks and public transport around the place to get to our destinations. It was nice to know that Fong Yee also likes to explore places and we sure did a lot of walking. Discovered many new places along the way and that Tiong Bahru has many design firms up and coming. Seems to me that it’s gonna become the next Ann Siang hill. The weather was lovely, with the occasional rain that lasted for a while. And every time I saw a vintage car, I would awe at it and Fong Yee would just stand there, laughing away at my reaction. Sometimes, I find it funny too.
After having a short tea break at Tiong Bahru market and the cafe (that is associated with forty hands but I can’t seem to remember it’s name right now), we headed over to Dust Bunny which was a shop that I simply loved to visit. The environment was really tranquil and it felt like I was on a small get away, from all the madness and the current situation that I’m facing right now. A pity that Fredo Galaxy at Commonwealth was closed. However, it was fun just getting there so thumbs up for that. Headed over to Bugis where we went to more indie shops, and finally walked over to the swimming pool at Suntec where fy was utterly surprised to find out a new discovery. Chatted along the way about stuff such as our aspirations, which was pretty deep, but we snapped right out of it soon enough.
And after that, we took the train back and went our separate ways. Had a really fulfilling day and it’s really nice to know that fy likes to walk and discover new places, so I know who to turn to if I want a another short “getaway”.
On a side note: Since my typewriter’s working, I’m really considering typing out one of my stories with it and maybe, in the near future writing a novel with it.
